Let’s raise awareness for those littles who need the help of an aid to hear. From understanding the challenges of hearing loss to the importance of early intervention— we need to foster better overall hearing health. Let’s remember to harvest a spirit of inclusion and not exclusion.
This design is dedicated to one of our favorite little customers— Nora. We are so thankful that we have connected with her and her parents— “Nora was diagnosed at birth with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. We were shocked as no one in our family had any reported deafness. Nora got her “ears,” at 3 months old. We still even then didn’t identify as having a child with any kind of “loss.” Nora slowly awoke something inside us as a family. We knew we had to do something else to ensure she had access to all forms of communication just in case. Nora showed us that being scared was not an option. We ditched the fear, educated ourselves, learned ASL and have never looked back. What the world labeled a loss we found to actually be a gain. Nora is now a 2 year old chatty and outgoing little girl with access to spoken language and ASL, she thrives. Nora’s hearing aids have turned up her world and I can’t imagine her without them. I hoped this design would remind us of how strong our kids are and how special it is to be their parents. Nora’s world has truly been “turned up,” and I’m so thankful she now gets to wear a special shirt to show it off.“ Nora can be seen wearing her custom Swank in the last photo.
October Is National Audiology Awareness Month and National Protect Your Hearing Month. March 3rd is World Hearing Day.
“Hearing loss can be treated, but hearing cannot be restored. In most cases, hearing loss is treated with the use of hearing aids. Some are treated with different types of implants and surgery may cure some types of conductive hearing loss. A sensorineural hearing loss is normally treated with hearing aids.” Hearing.org
Brightness of felt does vary as we use recycled felt. This design was made with an ombré style that is optional at checkout.
Careful washing. Sometimes felt pills. Not always. But sometimes. We can't be held responsible if you wash and there is damage done. So proceed with caution in regards to washing.
